Notes from the artist's husband . . .

Although this fella has the sweet look of a kitty cat, as an apex predator he is more likely to eat you than you to pet him

Using the techniques of pointillism and stippling the artist brings the eye of the tiger to life. This is not just a picture of a tiger--this is a glance into the soul of THIS tiger.

The tiger (Panthera tigris) is the largest living cat species and a member of the genus Panthera. It is most recognizable for its dark vertical stripes on orange fur with a white underside. An apex predator, it primarily preys on ungulates, such as deer and wild boar. It is territorial and generally a solitary but social predator, requiring large contiguous areas of habitat to support its requirements for prey and rearing of its offspring. Tiger cubs stay with their mother for about two years and then become independent, leaving their mother's home range to establish their own. (Wikipedia)

Created in pen and ink using the stippling and technique. Look closely--the entire piece is made of thousands of individual dots each work usually takes a minimum of twenty hours to complete.
